Interdisciplinary artist Eva Avenue paints portraits and abstracts, and uses a variety of media to tell stories.

Born in an attic in Amsterdam in 1984, Avenue spent her early childhood in Portugal building with sticks, rocks, leaves and dirt. In 1991, she moved to Florida where, after a few years of studying piano, she found herself accompanying cellist Yo-Yo Ma to a large audience in a concert hall.

Avenue began formal visual arts studies at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts in St. Pete, FL, and enjoyed learning histories of  art theory with art writer Dave Hickey at University of New Mexico, where she was editor-in-chief of her college newspaper. She writes professionally while also exhibiting and selling paintings.

A life-threatening medical emergency ultimately made her a better artist and Avenue reclaimed her life at Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts in NYC.

Eva Avenue is currently painting at Flax Art Studios in Belfast, UK.
